In 2020, Raiyan Laksamana and Farid Siddik, embarked on a journey to establish Visi8 in Jakarta–a media and entertainment Intellectual Property (IP) development company. Inspired by our love for storytelling and innovation, we’ve dedicated ourselves to transforming original and licensed IP into multiple forms of art and experience. From comic books to 2D / 3D animated films, we strive to create worlds that entertain and inspire.
Our IP development started off with a collaboration. A collaboration between writers from various countries and comic artists from all over Indonesia with one objective, crafting Indonesia-inspired fictional stories that resonate across the globe. Released as comic books in the United States and beyond, we aim to create more than just stunning visual art. We want to share the essence of Indonesia—the values, culture, and history that have shaped us.
Our diverse comic book lineup showcases the rich tapestry of Indonesian storytelling, brought to life in five standout titles: Kara: Guardian of the Realms, Changelings, Nusantara Falls, Galeo of the Seawalkers, and The Seventh Tiger. Each title is meticulously crafted to resonate with specific age groups and interests—from the youthful wonder evoked by Galeo of the Seawalkers, aimed at younger readers, to the suspenseful narratives of The Seventh Tiger, designed for a more mature audience. While deeply rooted in Indonesian culture and values, these series possess a universal allure, captivating global readers through compelling storytelling and vibrant characters.
July 2022 marked a milestone for Visi 8. Presenting our titles at the largest comic convention in the world, we received a warm reception that filled us with pride and encouragement. Under the banner of Visi 8 Entertainment, our upcoming brand in the United States, we showcased our passion and vision to fans at SDCC.
We continued to make our presence felt at other industry events. In October, we exhibited at the Baltimore Comic Con, and by February 2023, we attended Comics Pro in Pittsburgh to engage with retailers and professionals. We also took part in Comifuro in Jakarta in September 2022, a nod to our roots.
With the support of the largest comic book distributor in the world, Diamond Comic Distributors, Inc., we look forward to bringing these five comic book titles to readers in early 2023, both in print and digital formats.
We’ve teamed up with veteran comic book creator and filmmaker Kevin VanHook (Bloodshot, Batman, Superman) to guide our development and infuse our properties with excellence and originality. Working hand-in-hand with talented artists and creators from Indonesia, we’re focused on crafting entertainment that honors Southeast Asian mythology and history.
Our journey in animation is a tale told in both 3D and 2D. Kara: Guardian of the Realms, our 11-issue comic series, is undergoing a transformation at the hands of our skilled 3D artists. This universe will soon be available as a six-episode animated series, maintaining its authentic comic book feel while embracing the depth and dynamism of 3D animation.
We also have the privilege of working with Perum PFN, a distinguished Indonesian Film Production Company, to breathe new life into a classic IP, Si Unyil. This venture enables us to combine traditional storytelling elements with modern animation techniques, creating a unique blend that appeals to both old and new audiences.
Beyond our existing partnerships, we’re venturing into exciting new territory with a one-of-a-kind project: an animated music video for the song ‘Out of Sight’ by Delorian. While the song stands as its own artistic piece, the visual elements of the video draw inspiration from the evocative short story ‘The Road’ by Triandhika Anjani. Collaborating closely with musicians, our in-house team constructs compelling visual narratives that elevate the music they accompany. These endeavors not only enrich our portfolio but also offer a playground for both artistic and technical innovation.

Rounding out our portfolio is “Pulang” by Ilyas Kridia, a 2D animated feature film that delves into themes of nostalgia, loss, and acceptance. Following a man who returns to his hometown only to find it transformed, “Pulang” resonates with audiences by skillfully portraying the emotional complexities of change and personal growth.
